Seattle PD: Woman shot for taking ‘longer than expected’ in shower

SEATTLE — A woman was apparently shot for taking too long in the shower, according to Seattle police.

The Seattle Police Department (SPD) says that officers arrested a suspect on Sunday morning after a shooting in an apartment just east of the Chinatown–International District.

Police say officers first responded to reports of a shooting around 6 a.m. near Rainier Avenue and South King Street.

A 26-year-old woman was found with gunshot wounds to her upper thigh.

The woman said the suspect, a 47-year-old man, shot her while she was showering at his apartment.

According to police, the woman said the suspect shot her after she took “longer than expected” in the shower.

The woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

During a search of the apartment, police found a BB rifle, a pellet rifle, and a small handgun.

The suspect walked out of the apartment and was arrested without incident, police confirmed. He was also taken to Harborview Medical Center under guard for a medical evaluation.

SPD says the suspect will be booked into the King County Jail following the evaluation.
