TACOMA, Wash. — A playground at Tacoma’s North Slope Historic District Park has reopened after getting some upgrades.
According to Parks Tacoma, the renovations were funded by a voter-approved bond.
The playground received new play equipment like circular, covered swings that children can crawl inside, two slides, and a climbing structure.
The playground was also resurfaced with ADA-compliant engineered wood fiber, an ADA-compliant picnic table, and a wide path to the table.
According to Parks Tacoma, this is the first time the play equipment has been replaced since the park opened in 2002.
Parks Tacoma is holding a reopening celebration from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 24. Everyone is welcome.
This is one of five playgrounds being designed or built this year with bond funds, including Cloverdale Park, Alderwood Park, and Lincoln Heights Park. Oakland Madrona opened in January.
