PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Pierce Transit is partnering with the Pierce County Department of Emergency Management to provide free bus rides to shelters and warming centers in the area.
A winter storm warning is in place across the Puget Sound until 3 p.m. Sunday, with frigid temperatures and additional chances for snow flurries remaining in the forecast until at least Thursday.
>> Warming shelters to open during cold weather
To receive a free round trip, passengers should tell the bus driver they are traveling to or from a warming center or shelter.
The free bus rides will remain in effect through at least the end of the day Dec. 30, but may be extended based on winter weather conditions or until the county closes their warming centers and shelters.
