TACOMA, Wash. — Pierce County deputies arrested three teenagers last Saturday, Aug. 29, after being led on a high-speed chase on Pacific Avenue S.
According to Pierce County PIO Carly Cappetto, a Pierce County deputy witnessed a white BMW SUV speeding and cutting in and out of traffic around 7:30 a.m. Aug. 29.
Deputies were then given a heads-up that the SUV may be the same one that was recently stolen via gunpoint in Tacoma. They were also informed that it could be the same SUV related to recent car prowls, and that guns and young people could be involved.
The deputy then began to chase the vehicle, with the driver of the SUV going over 100-mph, according to Cappetto.
The SUV drove into a ditch at some point during the chase and lost two tires. After doing so, the three teens ditched the car and ran off.
Deputies tracked the three teenagers down and arrested them. Cappetto notes that two of them, including the driver, are 14 years old and the third is a 16-year-old.
Upon returning to the abandoned SUV, deputies located two guns inside the car.
The three teens were booked into Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center in Tacoma.
