Olympia police officers respond to attempted kidnapping

OLYMPIA — Olympia police officers were dispatched to an assault and attempted kidnapping on Sunday around 3:09 p.m. near the 4000 block of Wiggins Road SE.

Two young girls say they were riding their bicycles when they began following a cat into a wooded area across a dirt road. Both girls followed the cat into the woods where they encountered an adult male standing inside the wood line. The unknown male grabbed one girl by the arm and pulled her toward him.

The suspect is described as:

·         A Caucasian male in his 20’s;

·         About 5’10”, with a muscular build and dark hair;

·         Wearing a red sleeveless t-shirt, blue jeans and black and white tennis shoes;

·         He reportedly had a goatee on his face and a tattoo on his upper left shoulder.

The girl immediately started kicking the man while the other girl screamed. The man then let go and both girls rode their bicycles home. They reported the incident and one of the girl’s fathers called 911.

Officers searched the area and nearby neighborhoods but were unable to locate the suspect.
