BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Both directions of Mt. Baker Highway (SR 542) will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 30, and Thursday, Oct. 1, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The closure will then restart next week, on Monday, Oct. 5, and Tuesday, Oct. 6, also from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
These closures are to prepare the highway for winter conditions, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
“If you want to visit the Heather Meadows area, including Artist Point, Picture Lake, Lake Ann, Chain Lakes, and Ptarmigan Ridge, you need to be past Silver Fir Campground by 7:30 a.m. and will have to wait until 4 p.m. to return,” wrote the U.S. Forest Service.
