There’s a prickly new arrival at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium!

For the first time in the zoo’s 121-year history, a tiny prehensile-tailed porcupette was born.

The little 1-pound baby was born to first-time parents Nigel and Quillow.

According to the Smithsonian, adult prehensile-tailed porcupines weigh between four and 11 pounds.

You can see a video of Nigel here.

The porcupuette will remain behind the scenes for the time being.

“Prehensile-tailed porcupines are born with bright reddish-orange hair to provide camouflage and protection for their soft quills. As the baby grows, it’ll shed its hair, revealing spiny black-and-white quills,” the zoo wrote on Facebook.
