SEATTLE — Marshawn Lynch encouraged a crowd of teens and young adults trying to break into the job market at an event Thursday.
The retired Seahawks running back joined dozens of companies like Starbucks and Microsoft for the 100,000 Opportunities Career Fair.
KIRO 7 talked to organizers at CenturyLink field Wednesday as they set up.
Companies are giving out interview tips, helping people craft their resumes and connecting them to options to complete high school or explore college.
A representative from Starbucks said the event is about more than jobs.
"We have a national crisis on our hands with almost five million young people not in school and not working. What we're seeing in these kids in many cases is a level of creativity and resiliency in what they've been through and all they need is a little help and a little support,” said Executive VP for Starbucks Public Affairs Starbucks Vivek Varma.
The career fair starts at 9 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. and is open to people between the ages of 16 to 24. Those who preregistered are guaranteed an interview, but anyone who attends can still talk to employers.
