SEATTLE, Wash. — The Seattle City Council voted today to appoint Mark A. Solomon to fill the vacant position on the Council, representing District 2.
After five rounds of voting, Solomon received the necessary five-vote majority for the appointment to the position, replacing Tammy Morales. She resigned Jan. 6.
“I want to express my deep gratitude to this Council for their trust,” new Councilmember Mark Solomon in a news release. “I’m really all about serving this community, getting things done, and working with the Council to make life better for the City of Seattle and the residents of District 2.”
District 2 includes Beacon Hill, Rainier Valley, Chinatown-International District, Columbia City, Mount Baker, Yesler Terrace, and Rainier Beach.
The appointment begins immediately. It will last until November 2025, when voters will elect someone to serve the remainder of the position through 2027.
