SEATTLE, Wash. — 41 years after calling his first Mariners game, M’s broadcaster Rick Rizzs is set to retire at the end of the 2025-2026 season.
To celebrate his four decades with the team, the Mariners are inviting fans to an all-weekend celebration, officially titled “Rick Rizzs Farewell Weekend.”
The celebratory weekend will take place Sept. 25 through Sept. 27, during the final series of the regular season against the Los Angeles Angels.
It will feature multiple events to honor the legendary broadcaster, including a Rick Rizzs-themed fireworks night Sept. 25, a ceremonial first pitch Sept. 26, and a full celebration day Sept. 27, where fans can get a special Rick Rizzs placard and a t-shirt.
Rizzs will also be honored throughout the Sept. 27 game.
During the 2026-2027 season, Rizzs will become a member of the Mariners Hall of Fame. He will join Dave Niehaus as the second non-uniformed member to be inducted.
Fans can also call the “Holy Smokes” hotline at 206-346-4299 to leave a special message for Rizzs.
