Man unloading groceries stabbed in stomach

SEATTLE — A man was stabbed in the stomach as he unloaded groceries near the Yesler Terrace neighborhood Wednesday.

Police said the attack happened in the 1400 block of Jackson Place South at 7:38 p.m. when a man approached the victim and said, “come here.”

When the victim turned toward the unknown man, he was stabbed once in the stomach.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The victim was able to make it into his home, where his sister called 911 and gave him first aid.

Police said two people of interest were identified and detained. Both were armed with knives and matched the description provided by the victim.

They were booked into the King County Jail for unrelated charges, as police did not have probable cause to make an arrest for the stabbing.
