Man suspected in 2019 homicide of father of 4 arrested

SEATTLE — A 20-year-old man suspected of shooting and killing a father of four in August 2019 at the intersection of Aurora Avenue North and 102nd Street has been arrested, Seattle police said.

Seattle police investigators were notified after the 20-year-old was arrested on a different charge in Las Vegas.

Detectives from Seattle went down to Las Vegas following an interview.

Prosecutors in King County filed charges against the suspect for the death of Lloyd Whitney and are working to extradite the man back to Seattle, police said.

Whitney was gunned down in the early morning hours of Aug. 22, 2019.

Police were called to Aurora Avenue North for reports of shots fired and found Whitney with a gunshot wound to his head.

Medics declared Whitney dead at the scene.
