Man killed in early morning Ballard collision

SEATTLE, Wash. — A man was killed Saturday morning when he was struck by a car, according to a statement from the Seattle Police Department.

The Seattle Fire Department responded to the area around 4 am to find a man dead in the middle of the northbound lanes of 15th Avenue Northwest just north of Northwest 51st Street.

A witness told police that the victim had been acting erratically and suddenly ran from the sidewalk and into the road where a driver struck him.

Police say the 54-year-old driver immediately pulled over and called for assistance.

The driver remained on scene and fully cooperated with the investigation. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated the driver and did not suspect impairment.
