LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Police are investigating after a man was shot to death in a car at a park Tuesday afternoon in Lynnwood.
Officers were called to Daleway Park off 64th Avenue West for reports of shots fired.
When officers arrived at the scene, they said a man was found shot to death on the driver’s side of a car in the parking lot.
Police said the car was riddled with bullets and several windows were blown out.
Several bullet casings were found in the parking lot, police said.
Neighbors told KIRO 7 they heard at least six shots fired.
Multiple people were seen fleeing from the area, police said.
Two people were found hiding in a nearby backyard and police questioned them.
“They may have been together, they may just be two parkgoers that were just trying to get out of the area,” Commander Sean Doty with the Lynnwood Police Department said.
Hours after the shooting, a KIRO 7 crew captured footage of two people being photographed and DNA swabbed at the scene.
Police said a Black Toyota car was also seen speeding away from the park.
However, police have not said if they have identified any possible suspects in the case.
People who live near the park said they have noticed an increase in crime in the area in the last several years.
“I’ve seen a lot of people hanging out here and a lot of drugs. Lately, the last few years, it’s been going bad,” Sorin Gabu said.
The fatal shooting is the second homicide to occur in Lynnwood so far this year.
