Aaron Farinacci was indicted by a federal grand jury for arson in connection with the Old Trails fire that was started on August 1, according to First Assistant United States Attorney Pete Serano.
The Old Trails Fire was one of several fires in the Spokane Area Complex Fires that destroyed more than 700 structures and displaced more than 50,000 people.
Shortly after Farinacci was arrested, KIRO 7 spoke to a man who said he saw him right before he attempted to light another fire.
According to court documents, Farinacci may also be responsible for 25 other fires, and he said he had been planning to set the Old Trails Fire for weeks.
Farinacci faces first-degree arson charges in Washington, and according to Serrano, he may face additional federal charges.
