BELLEVUE, Wash. — Bellevue police arrested a 40-year-old man on Wednesday in connection with an after-hours break-in, vandalism, and an arson attempt at an office building.
The Bellevue Police Department (BPD) says the incident caused an estimated $2.3 million in damages.
First responders were dispatched at 3:09 a.m. on Sept. 28 to 108th Avenue NE. Officers determined that the business inside the facility had been vandalized, prompting an investigation.
BPD detectives established that the man entered the office building around 8:00 p.m. on Sept. 27 and stayed until roughly 3:00 a.m. the following morning, when the fire alarm sounded.
Police say the man vandalized multiple areas of the building, attempted to ignite property several times, and stole items from the business during those hours. Evidence gathered from the scene helped investigators identify the suspect.
An officer conducting patrols spotted the suspect at approximately 10:46 a.m. Wednesday on Bellevue Way. He was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was booked into the King County Jail on charges of burglary, arson, and malicious mischief.
A judge set his bond at $300,000.
