SEQUIM, Wash. — The Sequim Police Department is investigating an explosion that happened inside an apartment.
Officers were called to West Cedar Street around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.
When they arrived, they found a man who’d been injured by the blast.
The man was airlifted for immediate medical treatment.
No one else was hurt, and the damage was contained to just the one unit.
Due to the nature of this incident, the Sequim Police Department activated the Major Incident Response Team.
Detectives from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Port Angeles Police Department, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the investigation.
The Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad responded as a precaution to make sure that the scene was safe.
At this time, the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no known ongoing threat to the public.
