A man accused of hitting and critically injuring a security guard with his car while he was fleeing from police pleaded not guilty to the charges Wednesday.
Peter Phommasak is charged with vehicular assault, felony hit-and-run and assault.
Police say Phommasak randomly choked a Renton parks employee at Gene Coulon Park, led police on a chase to the Renton Boeing plant, intentionally drove into security guard Thomas Achten, and then fought officers after he crashed into the gate.
Court documents show Phommasak’s sister called 911 that day saying he was suicidal.
Harborview told KIRO 7 Achten was upgraded from critical to serious condition. He has traumatic spinal and head injuries.
His next court day is May 10.
