MAY DAY: Violent 'riot' erupts in Olympia; tensions high in Seattle

Tensions were high between protesters and police as May Day demonstrations unfolded in Western Washington, with the most chaotic event in Olympia.

Protesters threw rocks at Olympia police, and officers responded with flash bangs to move the crowd after a May Day protest turned violent. Officers now call it a riot.

Demonstrations started to get heated mid-evening after anti-Trump and pro-Trump protesters verbally clashed at Westlake Park. As every year, the permitted immigration workers’ rights march rallied for hours in downtown Seattle, peacefully.
