King County Public Health investigating cryptosporidiosis outbreak at McMenamins’ Bothell pool

BOTHELL — McMenamins’ North Shore Lagoon Swimming Pool, located inside the Anderson School in Bothell, is currently experiencing a cryptosporidiosis outbreak.

According to King County Public Health (KCPH), the cryptosporidiosis, otherwise known as crypto, outbreak is tied to an individual spending time inside McMenamins’ pool.

Crypto stems for a parasite and can be extremely contagious.

While many people have no symptoms from picking up the virus, crypto can give a person “watery diarrhea,” according to KCPH.

KCPH recommends avoiding swimming in public pools if you’re sick, avoid swallowing any pool water, and rinsing off before you enter the water.
