After spending weeks in the hospital, the King County Sheriff’s detective shot while serving an eviction notice in Ballard is finally heading home.
Doctors at Harborview Medical Center say they gave Detective Dave Easterly multiple blood transfusions.
“Most of the blood that flows through me right now, doesn’t even belong to me,” said Easterly.
Easterly was shot Mar. 21 when gunfire erupted while serving an eviction notice to a Ballard tenant,
The shooter, 29-year-old Eucytus, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
All three deputies involved in the shooting were placed on paid administrative leave.
Dozens of deputies showed up Friday for Easterly’s long-awaited departure from Harborview. King County Sheriff Patti Cole-Tindall was there too.
“For police officers the work is becoming more and more dangerous,” said Cole-Tindall. “People are more willing to raise a firearm to a deputy who’s just doing his job.”
