SEATTLE, Wash. — It’s official -- the Khosla family are now the owners of the Seattle Seahawks.
Vinod Khosla, a venture capitalist known for creating Sun Microsystems (which made Java), as well as investing early in both Google and Open AI, was joined by his wife, Neeru, a molecular scientist and co-founder of non-profit CK-12 Foundation, and son, Neal, who serves as CEO of Curai Health at Lumen Field today for a formal introduction.
After a short intro with a custom Khosla jersey, the Khosla family spent some time answering questions from local and national reporters.
On the topic of moving the Seahawks’ playing field, Vinod Khosla wasn’t ready to say much.
“We are owners for five days -- little early to formulate specific plans,” Vinod Khosla said. “I don’t expect too many changes.”
Neal Khosla was also highly appreciative of both Seahawks General Manager John Schneider and Head Coach Mike McDonald.
“These are two of the brilliant minds when it comes to football,” Neal Khosla said. “What can I learn from them?”
As for the white throwback jerseys? Neal Khosla added they’re coming back. While fans hope they might return soon, Khosla says the iconic ‘90s jerseys will be back in 2027.
The Seahawks later formally announced the return on social media.
With worries about the new owners intervening with the team, 12s can rest assured that’s not what the Khosla family is interested in.
“I don’t think our approach is going to be telling them what to do,” Vinod Khosla said. “Lots of dialogue, lots of discussion, let them make decisions.”
The Seahawks open the 2026 NFL season tonight, Sept. 9, against the New England Patriots. Kickoff is set for 5:20 p.m. at Lumen Field.
