Jaws of life used to free woman from crash, hospitalized for extremely high BAC

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. — Yesterday, Aug. 16, an Olalla woman was taken to St. Anthony Medical Center after crashing into a ditch near Port Orchard.

According to a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) post on Facebook, South Kitsap Fire and Rescue say the crash occurred at about 6 p.m., just off the 5100 block of Long Lake Road SE.

After arriving at the scene, fire and rescue used the jaws of life to take the roof off the woman’s car and pull her out.

Upon transfer to St. Anthony, the woman had her blood drawn to determine her blood alcohol level. The blood draw results showed the woman’s blood alcohol level sat at 0.4, according to KCSO.

While she recovers in the hospital, the Kitsap County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is determining potential charges.
