BELLEVUE, Wash. — Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will fully close southbound I-405 from Bellevue to Renton during the Sept. 25-28 weekend.
There will be additional ramp closures in Kirkland and overnight southbound lane reductions in Bothell will affect the I-405 corridor as well, WSDOT said.
“Travelers should allow extra time and expect congestion as traffic shifts to alternate routes and local streets,” WSDOT wrote.
The following areas will be impacted:
Southbound I-405 will close from Coal Creek Parkway Southeast to North 30th Street from 11:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 to 4 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28.
The following southbound I-405 ramps will close:
- Coal Creek Parkway Southeast on-ramp
- Lake Washington Boulevard on-/off-ramps (Exit 9)
- Northeast 44th Street on-/off-ramps (Exit 7)
- Off-ramp to Northeast 30th Street (Exit 6)
A southbound detour will be in place.
I-405/Northeast 132nd Street interchange closure in Kirkland
The northbound and southbound I-405 ramps at Northeast 132nd Street in Kirkland will close from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28. Northeast 132nd Street under I-405 will also close.
Southbound I-405 overnight lane reductions and rolling slowdowns in Bothell
Up to three lanes of southbound I-405 between State Route 527 and SR 522 will be closed overnight from:
- 11:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 to 5 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26
- 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 to 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 27
“Crews will implement a rolling slowdown between 12:01 a.m. and 4 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 and Sunday, Sept. 27 to shift traffic as part of the I-405/Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project. During a rolling slowdown, crews temporarily stop traffic for up to 15 minutes to create a gap in the traffic flow,” WSDOT wrote.
