The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office announced the discovery of human remains by a hiker in the Stampede Pass area on Oct. 1.
According to the coroner’s office, the remains were outside and in a state of decomposition that made identification not immediately possible.
Detectives are investigating the incident as a homicide and an autopsy is scheduled.
