PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — KIRO 7 is keeping a close eye on the incoming evacuation orders for people across Washington. Right now, our state is experiencing record flooding and is under a state of emergency.
Conditions are changing rapidly. As of 4:15 p.m. on December 11, here is a look at the evacuations in Pierce County.
Buckley
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office has issued Level 3 Evacuations, which means go now, for homes between SR 162 and S. Prairie Rd. E, west to Emery Ave N. Deputies are going door-to-door to notify people in the area.
A Level 2 Evacuation Notice, which means be ready to leave at a moment’s notice, has been issued for the area near the foothills trail.
Puyallup
Due to flooding from the Puyallup River, the police department has issued a Level 3 Evacuation Notice (GO Now Notice) to all residents of the Crossroads at Meridian apartment complex, located at 1027 N Meridian. Residents of this apartment complex must evacuate. Puyallup police officers are on scene to assist residents with the evacuation. Those who live at the apartment complex can call the department’s call center at 253-864-4170.
Police are working closely with the public works crews to monitor conditions throughout the city.
Orting
On December 11, the city issued a Level 2 Evacuation Order for homes on the east side of Daffodil Avenue Northeast. This means be ready to leave at a moment’s notice.
Central Pierce Fire and Rescue lifted the Level 2 - be ready - evacuation orders for the following areas of Orting:
- Those who live near the High Cedars Golf Course
- South of the Puyallup River near 150th Avenue East
- 188th Street East
- 184th Street East
- 176th Street East
- 168th Street East
- Off Pioneer Way East
- 177th Street East
- Patterson Road East
On December 10, people living in the area of Williams Boulevard Northwest, Mellinger Avenue Northwest, and Stone Street Northwest were told to evacuate immediately.

Sumner
The Rainier Manor neighborhood has been raised to Level 3 Evacuation warning due to leaks in the levee on the Puyallup River. This means go now.
Riverwalk Condos, the Retreat Apartments and the rest of the Rivergrove neighborhood remain at Level 1 - Ready level as a precaution.
On the north end, the neighborhood off 29th Street is now at a Level 2 – Get Set evacuation level.
The following roads are closed, according to the city’s website:
- The Stewart Road Bridge
- Houston Road is closed at Valley Avenue/Cannery Way
- The full length of the Sumner Link Trail
- State Street is closed where it crosses under State Route 410
