Kent homeowner shoots suspect after armed home invasion attempt

KENT, Wash. — A homeowner in Kent shot one man early Monday morning after a group of suspects allegedly attempted a home invasion.

A heavy police presence responded to reports of a shooting at a house located near Evergreen Middle School in Kent, just after 3 a.m. The Kent Police Department shut down Hampton Way while investigating.

According to Kent PD, the homeowner told police officers that several armed suspects had entered the home. He then shot at the intruders, hitting one suspect several times. The injured intruder received medical treatment from first responders before being taken to Harborview Medical Center. His condition is unknown, as of this reporting, and police have not identified him.

The other suspects ran off before police arrived, and despite a K9 track, they were not found. Kent detectives will handle the investigation.
