SULTAN, Wash. — Two gas station employees in Sultan are accused of taking more than $40,000 in lottery winnings from customers.

Court documents say a man took a winning ticket from a Washington Lottery investigator, saying it wasn’t a winner.

Three days later, the man and his coworker took the ticket to the regional lottery office in Everett to collect the prize, documents say.

Both were arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail.

A security camera captured the transaction.

This is the second pair of arrests involving alleged lottery theft in the past month in Snohomish County.

An Everett couple is suspected of redeeming tickets taken from a gas station, winning more than $22,000.
