MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — The Mount Vernon Fire Department (MVFD) worked with a Mount Vernon Police Department Animal Control officer to rescue a seagull that became trapped in a light pole Tuesday.
MVFD says the bird was left dangling high above the ground after its leg became caught in the light.
Firefighters deployed a ladder to reach the light pole and safely free the animal.
Following the rescue, the bird was named Wally.
Wally was transferred to the Sarvey Wildlife Rehab Center to receive care and rehabilitation.
