SEATTLE — Investigators are trying to determine what started a fire at the Lake City Community Center in Seattle early Tuesday.
A 911 call about the fire in the building on 28th Avenue Northeast, just off of Northeast 125th Street, came in at 2:45 a.m.
The fire started outside the building but extended into the building’s interior, and while firefighters knocked out the flames quickly, the fire was trapped in a void space between an interior ceiling and the roof.
Crews were forced to cut holes through the roof to gain access to the flames and put them out.
The fire has since been put out, and firefighters have taped off part of the building. Video from the scene shows an entrance was damaged.
No injuries were reported.
The Seattle Fire Department ruled the cause of the fire as undetermined on Tuesday afternoon. The estimated loss is $150,000.
