QUILCENE, Wash. — A Quilcene family is looking for clothes and toy donations after their dryer caught fire Wednesday.
Quilcene is an unincorporated community in Jefferson County.
Crews with Quilcene Fire Rescue were dispatched to the fire around just after 1 p.m. and arrived to find the mother, two small children and three dogs safely outside the house with no injures, officials said.
"Quilcene Firefighters quickly engaged the active fire that had consumed the laundry room and prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the structure," Quilcene Fire said in a news release.
Crews with the Brinnon Fire Department helped to extinguish the remaining hot spots in the house, but officials said the rest of the house and personal belongings inside sustained massive smoke damage.
Fire officials said the family is in need of the following donations:
"Youngest Toddler: Boy size 3T Clothes, shoe size 8 and likes unicorn and horse toys.
"Oldest Toddler: Boys size 4T/5T, shoe size 10 and likes Superhero and Mickey Mouse toys.
"Mother: Med shirt, Size 30 pants and shoe size 7.
"Father: Med shirt, size 30 pants and shoe size 12/13."
Fire officials said all donations can be dropped off at the Quilcene Fire Station – located at 70 Herbert Street.
"If the station is locked when you stop by you can reach the duty crew at 1(360)774-6999 and they will assist you if available," Quilcene Fire said.
