Loved ones say Chris Craig is the 35-year-old who died after a crash on Holman Road earlier this month.
"We are just heartbroken and sorry that we have to miss him," Heidi Somoza, Craig's sister, told KIRO 7. "We can all remember Chris by the inspired life that he led and strive to be as kind and present as he was."
Craig was driving his Honda on Holman Road on March 13 around 8 p.m. Police say the driver of a black Nissan Xterra slammed into Craig's Honda and knocked it into a tree, cutting the car in half.
The SUV then slammed into a gas pump and caused a fiery crash. The fireball was caught on surveillance video at the Shell gas station.
Craig was critically injured and was rushed to Harborview, where he later died.
The driver of the SUV was driving for Uber at the time of the crash and had a 40-year-old female passenger in the back. She was treated for minor injuries.
A KIRO 7 photographer watched police give the driver of the SUV a sobriety test.
According to a search warrant, the driver had trouble performing the field sobriety test and investigators are still waiting for the results of his toxicology tests.
The driver was not arrested.
Seattle police told KIRO 7 the investigation is ongoing.
Craig was engaged to be married. His family was looking forward to his wedding, now they are planning his memorial.
Craig's sister told KIRO 7 he loved the outdoors, adding that he and his fiancee have a boat and lived on Shilshole Bay.
"He walked the path less traveled," said Somoza, "and we hope our paths cross again so we can spend more time with him telling jokes and recounting endless stories."
