CLALLAM BAY, Wash. — After very severe flooding in multiple areas in the North Sound, recovery efforts are underway to get things back to normal.
There are efforts underway to supply water to the west end of Clallam Bay on the Olympic Peninsula.
A large landslide between Clallam Bay and Sekiu has blocked all traffic west of Clallam Bay, cutting off a community.
The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said they’re working to get more bottles of drinking water to the community.
They’re posting times and locations for delivery online.
They’re even sending out buckets to scoop water from ponds and streams for things like toilet flushing.
A limited access route around the prison has been established to get supplies and emergency traffic through to Sekiu, Hoko, Neah Bay and other areas. However, the route is restricted “as the road isn’t designed for constant traffic.”
On Friday, crews were able to reopen U.S. 101 around the lake to traffic at 5 p.m. Officials said, “this is huge as there was, for a while, no ability to get goods and services to our West End folks including fuel and groceries.”
