BURIEN, Wash. — A man driving to work was killed in a head-on collision with a stolen vehicle Monday morning, the King County Sheriff's Office said.
The crash happened around 7:50 a.m. on Glendale Way in Burien.
The 30-year-old driver of a stolen Subaru hit a pickup truck head-on, killing the 44-year-year-old driver of the truck, police said.
The driver of the stolen vehicle was taken to a hospital in stable condition. Deputies said they intend to book him into jail for investigation of vehicular homicide.
Harold Lewis was walking his dog and noticed the Subaru drift across the center line.
"I said to myself this car needs to get out of the lane or there's going to be some damage here, and just at that point it made contact with the pickup truck and it was a pretty horrendous accident," Lewis told KIRO 7.
Lewis said the Subaru driver appeared distracted, looking at something inside the car.
The victim's family was following a few minutes behind him on the same road, and was among the first to arrive at the scene.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with that family because this is just so horrible and so tragic for them especially for them to just drive upon something like that shortly after it happened had to be unimaginable," said Sgt. Ryan Abbott of the King County Sheriff's Office.
