Driver caught with mannequin in HOV lane

A driver was pulled over Friday morning for having a mannequin in the passenger seat while driving in the high-occupancy vehicle lane on I-5.

Trooper Rick Johnson said a trooper stopped the driver in the southbound lanes of I-5 near 175th.

"The passenger didn't want to say anything. At least the seat belt was on," Johnson said in a tweet.

Drivers caught without another passenger in the car while in the HOV lane will be fined $186. Subsequent violations within two years of the first violation result in a $336 fine.

If the driver is caught with a doll or dummy meant to appear as though there is another passenger in the car, an additional $200 fine will be levied.
