South Kitsap Fire and Rescue says a couple’s dog named Newton got loose on Friday afternoon during low tide at Yukon Harbor and became stuck in thick mud.
Crews responded at around noon and used ladders to reach the dog and freed him, officials said.
He was returned to his owners unhurt.
