A Pierce County man was shot dead after allegedly attempting to enter a building he was recently evicted from, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office says the shooting happened shortly after midnight on August 12 at a residence along 18th Avenue South in Tacoma.
According to the homeowner, he shot the former resident after he kicked down the door to the house and attacked him.
The homeowner told the sheriff’s office that the man had previously lived in the house but had been evicted. On the night of the shooting, he said, the man had shown up at the house and demanded to be let in before forcing his way inside.
When deputies arrived, they found the previous resident in the doorway of the house with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite first aid from deputies, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
