SPANAWAY, Wash. — The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after a body was found on the side of the road in Spanaway.

A passerby reported a body along the road of 208th Street and Mountain Highway East just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Medics responded and tried to save the woman but she died at the scene. Deputies believe she died from a gunshot wound.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who drove around the area Tuesday to contact them. Deputies believe the suspect was wearing a hoodie but don’t have any other information.

About 50 yards from where the body was found, deputies think the woman and the suspect were in a confrontation before the shooting around 9:30 p.m.

There was also a sedan parked on the side of the road but police didn’t have a car description.

The investigation is ongoing.
