TUKWILA, Wash. — A convicted felon was arrested in Tukwila after police found a stolen handgun, drugs, and counterfeit cash during a weekend investigation.
The Tukwila Police Department said officers responded Saturday, Sept. 13, to a report of two people slumped over inside a vehicle along Strander Boulevard. Officers found drug paraphernalia in plain view and were able to wake both occupants.
During a pat-down, police discovered a handgun on the man sitting in the driver’s seat. Investigators later determined he had a prior second-degree robbery conviction, making it illegal for him to possess a firearm.
Police said the gun was registered to a Kirkland resident who was out of state at the time. Police contacted the resident, who told investigators no one should have the weapon. Kirkland police are now investigating the gun as a possible stolen firearm and looking into a potential burglary connected to the case.
Officers also found drugs, narcotics-related paraphernalia, and counterfeit cash in the suspect’s possession.
The man was booked into jail on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm. Additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
