Clark County deputies have arrested a man who allegedly raped a teen and injured a police K9.
According to the sheriff’s office, a 17-year-old girl reported that she had escaped who she called her “significant other.” She reported that she was strangled, “assaulted with a knife, restrained, and sexually assaulted,” according to the sheriff’s office.
The suspect was identified as a 41-year-old man.
Clark County drones followed the man as he moved through an apartment complex while trying to flee and jump fences.
Deputies said he ran into a nearby home. It’s unclear if this was his home or a stranger’s.
When the suspect later came outside, he refused commands to surrender, according to deputies.
K-9 Ajax was deployed, and the suspect slammed the door on Ajax’s head and paws, according to the sheriff’s office.
Ajax’s paw was injured in the incident but he is expected to recover.
The suspect surrendered a short time later and was taken into custody.
The suspect was booked for first-degree rape domestic violence, first-degree kidnapping domestic violence, first-degree assault domestic violence, and second-degree assault domestic violence. He is also facing a charge for harming a police dog.
