Seattle-Taipei cargo flight diverted to Anchorage due to bomb threat, authorities say

A China Air cargo flight that took off Saturday from Seattle headed to Taipei was diverted to the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport due to a bomb threat called into the Port of Seattle, said Steve Forrest, an FBI special agent with the Anchorage, Alaska Field Office.

The airport in Anchorage was temporarily closed to ensure everyone’s safety but was reopened, Forrest said.

Authorities said after investigating, no explosive device was found, and they believe there is no threat to the community.

Officials with the FBI are investigating the source of the threat.
