A car was struck by a train in Snohomish County early Thursday morning after it drove around the lowered railroad crossing arms.
At approximately 6:04 a.m., Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputies were dispatched to the collision site at Airport Way and Lowell Snohomish River Road, SCSO confirmed to KIRO Newsradio.
The vehicle was occupied by one person who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency medical services and fire personnel responded to the scene.
Snohomish County Fire District 4 advised that emergency crews will be working throughout the area.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office asked travelers to avoid the area, use alternate routes, and allow extra time for travel.
