A car was struck by a slow-moving train in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood Tuesday morning.

The crash happened near South Carsten’s place.

Witnesses said the car was positioned behind a pillar and the driver couldn't see the train approaching.

She was not seriously hurt.

She started to cross the tracks and her car was struck by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train.

Neighbors in the area say they've been after the railroad to help prevent exactly that type of accident.

"It's something we've been trying for years -- to get the railroad to put crossing gates down here and we just can’t get anywhere,” said John Bennett with the Georgetown Merchants Association.
