Car stolen in Seattle’s Phinney Ridge neighborhood Wednesday morning

Police are investigating after a car was stolen in Seattle’s Phinney Ridge neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

Just after 2:15 a.m., police were called to a vehicle theft in the 300 block of North 71st Street.

According to police, shortly after reporting the theft, the owner of the car saw it heading southbound in the 3400 block of State Route 99 and began to follow it in another car while calling 911.

The driver of the stolen car noticed they were being followed and quickly sped away.

Washington State Patrol and the King County Sheriff’s Office were then notified of the direction in which each vehicle was traveling.

The owner of the stolen car told police that as he kept pace with his car, it merged onto State Route 509 headed toward SeaTac.

The driver of the stolen car took the Glendale Way SW exit and started shooting toward the owner, who was following them.

Officers tried to find the scene of the shooting but no evidence was found or collected.

The stolen car has not been recovered.
