Brush fire on southbound I-5 in Northgate delays morning commute

SEATTLE — A brush fire along the side of I-5 in Seattle’s Northgate area caused traffic delays during the Wednesday morning commute.

Firefighters and emergency response crews blocked the right lane and partially blocked the southbound I-5 on-ramp from NE Northgate Way.

The fire could be seen burning between trees right by the side of the highway, but firefighters quickly extinguished the flames.

Drivers were told to expect delays in the area.

By 10 a.m., the Washington State Department of Transportation confirmed that all lanes had reopened and were clear.
