COVINGTON, Wash. — The King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) is investigating a homicide in Covington, where one person was found dead and another injured at a home on Friday morning.
It happened at a home on 186th Place SE around 7 a.m.
“I’m shocked. This is a good neighborhood. We’ve lived here for 12 years and its very family-oriented and very safe,” said a neighbor.
Messages floated around that it was a home invasion, but KCSO says they are not using that description or divulging what happened in the home.
“Our major crimes team has taken over this investigation. They’re going to be out here a while and they’re looking at all leads,” said KCSO communications manager Brandyn Hull.
Neighbors told KIRO 7 a husband and father of three was covered in blood and taken away in an ambulance.
The three children were removed from the home and taken to a neighbor’s house, but apparently were not hurt.
Kendra Smith lives across the street and says she never knew the family to have any problems.
“No, they have always been very kind, fun – they’re always outside and involved, kids are always out playing,” said Smith.
Many questions with no information from investigators about the person who was killed, whether that person lived at the home, any relation to the person who went to the hospital or anything about the children’s mother.
“It’s awful. I haven’t seen anything about her come out or… yeah, it doesn’t sound good,” said Smith.
KCSO did not provide an update on the condition of the person who was taken to the hospital.
Neighbors were told there was no ongoing threat to public safety.
