SEATTLE — The negotiation team for the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA), the union that represents thousands of Boeing employees, has concluded bargaining with Boeing after receiving the company’s final contract offer, the union announced Friday.
The SPEEA Negotiation Team recommends that its members accept the proposal, crediting recent union member activism for pushing Boeing to present a better offer than the one rejected on Aug. 21.
According to the union, thousands of members participated in marches and rallies across Boeing properties in the Pacific Northwest.
“The results of these negotiations could not have been possible without the unity and solidarity that our members have shown over the last few weeks,” the negotiation team said in a joint statement. “These offers are the result of your work. They represent a real step forward toward improving our pay and work lives and rebuilding the relationship between Boeing leadership and our union’s members.”
Details of the proposal will be presented to the Bargaining Unit Councils of the Professional and Technical units during the regularly scheduled Northwest Council meeting on Thursday, Sept. 17, before being shared with the full membership. The union said it has not yet announced a date for the final contract vote.
Key terms outlined in the company’s final offer include:
- Immediate Wage Increase: A 10% Guaranteed Wage Increase (GWI) for all Professional and Technical unit-represented workers, effective Oct. 16.
- 2027 Wage Increase: A 4% GWI for all represented workers in March 2027.
- 2028–2030 Wage Pools: 6% annual wage pools for 2028, 2029, and 2030, which feature a guaranteed 4% annual increase for all covered employees.
- Policy and Workplace Revisions: Updated contract language regarding work-from-home options, overtime limits for Professional unit members, and a new process to communicate Boeing’s future workforce needs to assist members with career planning.
SPEEA, affiliated as IFPTE Local 2001, represents roughly 20,000 aerospace professionals across Boeing, including nearly 13,000 engineers in its Professional Unit and over 4,000 analysts, designers, specialists, and technicians in its Technical Unit. While most covered employees are based in Washington state, the union also represents workers in Oregon, California, and Utah.
