MOUNT RAINIER, Wash. — A body recovered from inside a crevasse at Mount Rainier National Park may be a missing 80-year-old man.

Park Rangers tell KIRO 7 Eddy Dawes was making a solo trip up Rainier on May 30 but was overdue for his planned return.

Rangers started looking for the Spokane man last Thursday, and on Monday they spotted an unresponsive climber.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the victim.

The body was recovered via helicopter.
