STANWOOD, Wash. — A dive team recovered the bodies of two brothers who were last seen on Lake Howard in late January.
The sheriff’s office responded around 3 a.m. on Jan. 29 for reports of two brothers, 19 and 21, who went canoeing and hadn’t seen since.
Witnesses told police that the brothers were not wearing life jackets. No one reported seeing the men in distress or go under the water.
Search and rescue crews responded and were able to find the canoe, but couldn’t find the two men.
The dive team and marine unit searched the lake for nine days but couldn’t find the brothers.
The bodies were eventually recovered Feb. 24. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
