Bellingham woman arrested after man stabbed in throat with steak knife

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A 31-year-old woman is in custody on suspicion she stabbed a man in the throat with a steak knife, the Bellingham Police Department announced Tuesday.

The incident is alleged to have happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Northwest Avenue.

Upon arrival, police said they found the victim, a 46-year-old man, with a stab wound to the front center of his neck.

According to police, the victim was able to provide a partial name and description of the suspect.

The victim was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center and underwent emergency surgery to repair damage to his throat, trachea and vocal chords.

“He is expected to live, albeit with likely permanent damage to his speech due to the damage to his vocal chords,” a spokesperson for the Police Department told KIRO 7.

Officers said that during their investigation, they learned that Alexandrea Pedregon, 31, and the victim got into an altercation inside the apartment before the stabbing.

Officers said they later located the steak knife in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

A warrant was issued for Pedregon’s arrest, and police said they took her into custody on Friday as she was boarding a WTA bus.

Pedregon was booked into the Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault where she remains in lieu of a 250,000 bail.
